Scala & Kolacny Brothers, a Belgian women's choir, was formed in 1996 and conducted by Stijn Kolacny. The group initially gained recognition by winning the Belgian Choir of the Year contest in 2000. Their debut album On the Rocks was released in 2002, marking their entry into the music scene with a collection of specially arranged renditions of well-known songs. In 2006, Scala & Kolacny Brothers' cover of "Engel" by Rammstein appeared on the live album Völkerball. The group's international breakthrough came in 2010 when their cover of Radioheadâs "Creep" was featured in the trailer for The Social Network, garnering over 250 million views. This exposure led to a significant increase in their popularity, culminating in the release of their self-titled album through ATCO Records and PIAS in various regions. Notable collaborations include appearances on television shows like Downton Abbey with covers such as "Every Breath You Take" by The Police and "With or Without You" by U2. Scala & Kolacny Brothers performed at major festivals, including South by Southwest and Latitude Festival, and had a successful tour across North America in 2011. Their music has been featured in various media, including The Simpsons and several films like Poisson Violent.
