Satoshi Ikeda, born on 21 July 1963 in Nasukarasuyama, Japan, is a Japanese singerâsongwriter and actor who emerged from a background in electrical engineering at Nihon University. After his university band dissolved, Ikeda pursued a solo career and signed with Tanabe Agency, later joining Keidash. His debut single, "Monochrome Venus" (5â¯Augustâ¯1986), was featured in a Suzuki Alto commercial and entered the TBS The Best Ten charts for six weeks, establishing his presence in the industry. Ikeda released his debut album missing (5â¯Novemberâ¯1986), which earned the Japan Record Award for Best New Artist, and followed with a series of studio albums including Saturdayâ¯11:30â¯a.m. (21â¯Octoberâ¯1995) and missing (20â¯Mayâ¯2009). Notable singles such as "Kiss" (11â¯Octoberâ¯1989) and "Monochrome Venus" continued to receive commercial tieâins. He collaborated with artists like Keisuke Nakanishi and Masaharu Ise in units ICEâ¯BOX and IS, and participated in the L.O.T.U.S. project with Nakanishi and Ikuyo Akasaki, releasing the album FOLKLORE (14â¯Juneâ¯2004).
