Born in Nice on February 24, 1991, singer-songwriter, musician, and performer Samanta Maria Eckert Cotta is best known by her stage name, Santa. She was raised by her American mother, Diana Eckert, who was a singer in the band Daisy Duck during the 1980s. She first gained recognition in 2015 as the lead singer of the electro-pop band Hyphen Hyphen, with whom she recorded several EPs and albums, including their latest, Câest La Vie, released in 2023. That same year, Santa made her solo debut with the EP 999, on which she played nearly all the instruments and which features, among other tracks, the love song âPopcorn salé,â which reached No. 11 on the SNEP chart in France. In 2024, she released her first studio album, *Recommence-Moi*, preceded by the eponymous single, which peaked at No. 16. The album also features a duet with Christophe Willem, âLes Larmes ne coulent pas.â After joining the Enfoirés troupe and performing at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games at the Stade de France, she served as a coach on the show The Voice Kids and achieved further success with âLa Différenceâ and âDis-moi oui, â which reached No. 19 and No. 21, respectively, on Belgiumâs Ultratop chart. In June 2026, Santa released the live double album Recommence-Moi (Live in Brussels), which peaked at No. 22 on the SNEP chart.
