Biography

Clara Luciani came to prominence in 2018 with the feminist song "La Grenade", and sang in the group La Femme before embarking on a solo career that was crowned with several Victoires de la musique awards. Born in Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône) on July 10, 1992 into a family of Corsican and Sicilian origins, Clara Luciani studied art history and worked at various food jobs before trying her luck in music. In 2011, she met the synthetic pop-rock group La Femme and sang on their album Psycho Tropical Berlin (2013), before forming the duo Hologram with Maxime Sokolinski, the brother of singer SoKo. A guitarist, she accompanied singer Raphaël on tour and launched her solo career with the Monstre d'Amour EP (2017), produced by Benjamin Lebeau (The Shoes) and Ambroise Willaume (Revolver). Her debut album, Sainte-Victoire (2018), enjoyed growing success thanks to the track "La Grenade", ranked #5 in Belgium and #22 in France. On February 8, 2019, the day the album was reissued with four new tracks including the duet "Qu'est-ce que t'es beau" with Katerine, she won her first Victoire de la musique award in the "Stage Revelation" category, followed by a second award, for Female Performing Artist of the Year, in 2020. After a duet with Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos on a Lee Hazlewood cover ("Summer Wine"), Cœur, a second album with a more danceable pop tone and featuring a contribution from Julien Doré, is released in June 2021, promoted by the chart-topping tracks "Le Reste", "Amour toujours" and "Respire encore". Two new Victoires de la Musique awards are added to his list of successes, before the re-release of Cœur Encore in 2022. Back in the studio after a busy 2023, between the end of a long tour, her marriage to Alex Kapranos and the birth of their son, Clara Luciani gets down to work on the album Mon Sang (2024), including a duet with Rufus Wainwright.
