Biography

Samantha Rae Bowers, better known by her stage name Sammy Rae, was born in Derby, Connecticut, on January 4, 1994. Influenced as much by rock and soul as by jazz singers, she learned to play the piano and began writing her first songs at the age of twelve. She developed her own style on stage, in local clubs, before making three confidential solo albums during her studies. She moves to New York and hires musicians to form her own band, Sammy Rae & the Friends. The band, signed to Nettwerk Records, recorded the EP The Good Life (2018), followed three years later by Let's Throw a Party. The Covid-19 pandemic interrupts the group's activities, which marks its return with a tour from which the album The If It All Goes South Tour (2023) is taken. Sammy Rae & the Friends returned to the studio to record Something for Everybody (2024), including the hit "Thieves".
