Biography

Born in Los Angeles, California in 1981, Kelly Finnigan is a soul singer, songwriter & producer who first came to prominence as the frontman for Bay Area psychedelic funk-soul band Monophonics. Raised in a musical family – his father, organist Mike Finnigan, performed with rock and blues icons Jimi Hendrix and Taj Mahal – Kelly Finnigan first learned to play piano before focusing on expressing himself through his voice. While the Monophonics had released two albums before he joined, Kelly Finnigan joined the group for 2012’s In Your Brain and became their driving force. After the release of Sound of Sinning (2015), he released his first solo album, The Tales People Tell (2019), which was then followed by the holiday album A Joyful Sound (2020). He continued recording albums with Monophonics – It’s Only Us (2020) and Sage Motel (2022) – while continuing his solo career with From Me to You (2023) and A Lover Was Born (2024). Kelly Finnigan has also collaborated with several artists including The Sentiments, The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble, and Shawn Lee. In 2025, Kelly Finnigan released the singles “Keep Me in Mind” and “I Can’t Wait (For Christmas Time).”
