Sammy Benskin, born Samuel Benskin on September 27, 1922, in The Bronx, New York City, was an American jazz pianist and bandleader. He started his career around 1940, working with singer and guitarist Bardu Ali. Throughout the 1940s, he collaborated with notable musicians like Benny Morton and Stuff Smith. In the early 1950s, Benskin led his own piano trio and accompanied vocalists such as Roy Hamilton and Al Hibbler. In 1959, he recorded "The Clouds" with The Spacemen, which reached Number 1 on the Billboard R&B Charts and number 41 on the pop charts. Throughout the 1960s, Benskin worked primarily as an accompanist, arranger, and producer. He passed away on August 26, 1992, in Teaneck, New Jersey.
