Biography

Samantha Lam Chi-mei, born on April 9, 1963, in Hong Kong, is a singer-songwriter known for her contributions to Cantopop. Her musical journey began in 1982 when RTHK aired her early songs, including "Feelings of a Passage". In 1983, she released her self-titled debut album, featuring ten successful tracks previously performed between 1981 and 1982. That same year, she covered the Mandarin song "Into Your Eyes", originally by Tsai Chin. Her 1984 track "Ngau yu" from the film Certain Romance was recognized as one of Hong Kong's top ten gold songs for 1983-1984. Other notable albums include What Is Fate? (1984), Phantom of Love (1985), and Piano in a Rainy Night and Blue Remixes (1986). Throughout her career, Lam's work has been covered by various artists, including Sammi Cheng and Zhou Xun.
