Prudence Liew Mei-Kwan, born in 1964 in Hong Kong, is a singer who began her career at age eight appearing in television commercials. In 1986, while working as a film producer, she was approached to sing the theme song "Midnight Love" for a movie, leading to her signing with Current Records. Her self-titled debut album Prudence Liew was released in 1986 and sold over 500,000 copies, earning a 10Ã platinum certification from the Hong Kong IFPI. The second single "The Last Night" became her signature song. In 1995, she left the Hong Kong music industry following her divorce and vocal cord issues, relocating to San Francisco. Liew returned to music in 2000, landing a record deal in Taiwan and releasing her first Mandopop album Love Yourself. She later returned to Hong Kong in 2008 for a concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
