Sam Mangwana, born on February 21, 1945, in Leopoldville (now Kinshasa), Democratic Republic of the Congo, is a Congolese musician and songwriter. His parents were from neighboring Angola, and his father was originally from Zimbabwe. Mangwana began his professional music career in 1963 with the rumba band African Fiesta, led by Tabu Ley Rochereau. He later formed Festival des Maquisards in 1968 and joined François Luambo Makiadi's TPOK Jazz in 1972. During his time with TPOK Jazz, Mangwana collaborated on notable songs such as "Ebale ya Zaire", "Cedou" and "Mabele". In the late 1970s, he formed African All Stars and later became a solo artist, releasing albums like Maria Tebbo (1980) and Coopération (1982). Mangwana's prolific career includes collaborations with various artists and bands. His notable works include "Lufua Lua Nkadi" and "Luka Mobali Moko".
