Turf is an Argentine pop rock band formed in December 1995 in Buenos Aires, led by vocalist JoaquÃn Levinton alongside guitarist Leandro LopatÃn, bassist Carlos âToddyâ Tapia, drummer Fernando Caloia, and keyboardist Nicolás Ottavianelli. After starting on the cityâs club circuit with covers, they broke through in the late 1990s with Una pila de vida (1997) and Malas decisiones (1999), then became one of the most recognizable radio bands of early-2000s Argentine rock with Turfshow (2001) and Para mÃ, para vos (2004), powered by singalong staples like âCasanova,â âLoco un poco,â âMagia blanca,â and âPasos al costado.â The group split in 2007, with members launching side projects, before reuniting in 2014 and returning to studio work with Turf (2017). In the 2020s, they leaned into both new material and a renewed live/media presence: 2023 brought the album Renacimiento and high-visibility sessions that reintroduced the bandâs classic repertoire to a new generation, then they doubled down on that cross-generational angle with Polvo de Estrellas (2025), a project built around updated versions of their best-known songs featuring guests from different scenes, including Milo J (âPasos al costadoâ), Conociendo Rusia (âMagia blancaâ), Lali (âLoco un pocoâ), and Fito Páez (âContactoâ). By 2026 they were still active with new singles such as âLos pibes son campeones,â keeping Turfâs identity intact: sharp pop songwriting, bright guitars, and Levintonâs wink-at-the-camera delivery.
