Miguel Ãngel Mateos Sorrentino (January 26, 1954), professionally known as Miguel Mateos, is an Argentine singer-songwriter and one of the most important exponents of the Rock en Español movement during the 1980s. Born in Buenos Aires, he formed the rock band Zas with his brother in 1979, and, only a year later, the group became the opening act for Queen during their Buenos Aires concerts. In the years that followed, Zas and Miguel Mateos went on to become one of the most popular groups in both Argentina and Latin America with titles like Zas (1982), Huevos (1983), Tengo Que Parar (1984), and the live album Rockas Vivas (1985), which featured the hit single "Perdiendo el Control." Released as a Miguel Mateos solo album with Zas as his backing band, the iconic Solos en América appeared in 1986 and was followed by Atado a un Sentimiento in 1987. Over the course of the next decades, Mateos reaped the fruits of his labor with a highly successful solo career that included the albums Obsesión (1990), Pisanlov (1995), Fidelidad (2008), La AlegrÃa Ha Vuelto a la Ciudad (2013), and Undotrecua (2019).
