Saal 2 is a German electronic and Neue Deutsche Welle ensemble from Hamburg that formed in 1980. Their founding members are Jens Kraft, Thomas Meins, and Godeke Ilse, and they are famous for mixing electronic new-wave with Schlager and for the track âAngst vorm Tanzenâ (1980). They achieved professional recognition with that debut EP, which was followed by the single âDie U-Bahn rolltâ (1982), released under the name Saal 3. Their discography includes the studio recordings Auf der Suche nach dem Glück (1994), Weil das System nicht funktioniert! (2005), and Was macht die Musik? (2015). In 2010, they released the EP Johann Sebastian Kraft. Their track âAngst vorm Tanzenâ was later ranked as the 11th best song of all time by Spex magazine.
