Rune Ãfwerman, born Axel Ivar Ãfwerman on December 24, 1932, in Stockholm, Sweden, was a Swedish jazz pianist, bandleader, and arranger. He began his musical career by founding the Boogie Bop Six with Lasse Bagge and Georg Riedel in 1948. Throughout the 1950s, Ãfwerman performed with various artists, including Tony Mason, Carl-Henrik Norin, and Gunnar Almstedt. Ofwerman also composed films under the name Gregor Vein. In 1961, he composed the soundtrack for the film Rififi in Stockholm (Stöten). He released several albums, including New Spice (2000) and Glenn Miller Is Missing (2011). Ãfwerman also collaborated with notable musicians such as Chet Baker, Stan Getz, and Eric Dolphy. His sons Clarence and Staffan Ãfwerman were producers and musicians for the band Roxette. Rune Ãfwerman passed away on December 13, 2013, in Stockholm.
