Biography

Roland Dyens was a French classical guitarist, composer, and arranger born in 1955 in Tunis. He earned his concert license in 1976 under Alberto Ponce at the Paris Normal School of Music and studied composition with Désiré Dondeyne. Dyens received the Golden Guitar in 2006 for his overall work and the Grand Prix of the Charles Cros Academy in 2006. He composed numerous pieces for guitar, and his albums included French Songs (1995). His work included adaptations of French songs such as “The Bicycle” and “It Is Raining in My Room”, and his best-known composition was “Tango en skaï” (1985). Dyens taught at the Paris National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance. He died in 2016.
