Biography

Rockmelons, an Australian pop/dance/R&B group, was formed in 1983 in Sydney. The primary members were Bryon Jones, Jonathon Jones, and Raymond Medhurst. The group's first single, "Time Out (For Serious Fun)", was released on Phantom Records in February 1985 with lead vocals by Sandi Chick. In September of the same year, they released their second single, "Sweat It Out", featuring vocals by Peter Blakeley. By 1987, Mary Azzopardi and Wendy Matthews joined the group, contributing to their debut album Tales Of The City, which was released in May 1988 and peaked at number 9 on the Australian charts. The album included notable singles such as "Rhymes" and "New Groove". Rockmelons shared the ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist – Album with 1927's album ...ish in 1989. In 1992, the group released Form One Planet, which peaked at number 3 on the ARIA albums chart and was certified platinum. The album featured hit singles "Ain't No Sunshine" and "That Word (L.O.V.E.)", both sung by Deni Hines. Rockmelons' third album, Rockies 3, was released in October 2002, featuring eight different vocalists including Jeremy Gregory and Roxane LeBrasse. The group has produced music for various artists, including Marcia Hines and Sophie Monk.
