Roberto Murolo was an Italian singer-songwriter, guitarist, and actor born on January 19, 1912, in Naples. He achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by Neapolitan song and for being a major interpreter of the genre. Murolo achieved professional recognition for a career that began as a member of the ensemble Mida Quartet between 1934 and 1946. He achieved professional recognition for appearing in the movie Catene (1949) and the movie Tormento (1950). His recording career began with solo recordings for the label Telefunken-Durium in 1948. Murolo achieved professional recognition for the chronological anthology recording Napoletana (1963), which consisted of 12 albums recorded with the guitarist Eduardo Caliendo. His discography included the studio recording Roberto Murolo e la sua chitarra (1955) and the studio recording Melodie napoletane per canto e pianoforte (1955) recorded with the musician Luciano Sangiorgi. He achieved professional recognition for receiving a career award at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2002. Murolo died on March 13, 2003, in Naples.
