Biography

Fausto Cigliano was an Italian singer, guitarist, and actor born on 15 February 1937 in Naples. He achieved professional recognition after making a record debut in 1953. Cigliano achieved professional recognition for the track “Che m'ha 'mparato a fa'” (1957), which reached Number 1 on the Italian charts. He achieved professional recognition for winning the Naples Music Festival (1959) with the track “Sarrà... chi sà” (1959), performed with Teddy Reno. Between 1959 and 1964, he participated five times in the Sanremo Music Festival. His recording career includes the debut studio recording Fausto Cigliano e la sua chitarra (1956) and the studio recordings 5º Festival della canzone napoletana (1957) and Chitarra club (1967). Cigliano performed on the soundtrack of the film Identification of a Woman (1982). After graduating from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory (1976), he focused on the study of traditional Neapolitan music. Cigliano died on 17 February 2022.
