Biography
Roberto Cipelli, born on August 6, 1958, is an Italian jazz pianist who began his musical education at the age of 11 at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. In 1975, Cipelli discovered jazz and formed the Quartetto Jazz Cremona with guitarist Riccardo Bianchi. He studied under Franco DâAndrea from 1979 to 1980. In the mid-1980s, Cipelli joined Paolo Fresu Quintet, contributing to their album Ostinato (1985). His debut album, Moona Moore, was released in 1989 with Fresu and other musicians. Throughout the following decades, Cipelli collaborated with artists such as Tiziana Ghiglioni, Sheila Jordan, and the E.S.P. Trio. He also composed music for film soundtracks and worked with dance and theater groups. Cipelli's educational contributions include teaching piano, harmony, and ensemble playing in various cities across Italy and at the Melbourne Conservatory of Music.
