Biography
Born in Milan on November 16, 1966, Roberta Invernizzi studied pianoforte and double bass before turning to opera singing. She then specialized in the Baroque and early Classical periods. In 1994, she made her debut at La Scala in Milan, and in January 1999 sang at the inaugural concert of the New York Collegium at the invitation of Gustav Leonhardt. After several recordings for the Stradivarius label, the soprano, under contract to Glossa, collaborated with harpsichordist Fabio Bonizzoni on a series of recitals of little-known works by Handel, including the Cantata for Cardinal Pomphili, which won the Stanley Sadie Prize in 2007. She also devotes volumes to John Dowland (2002), Antonio Vivaldi(Opera Arias, 2012) and the Italian Baroque repertoire: Il Viaggi di Faustina (2013), La Bella Pi Bella and The Neapolitan Salon (2014). In 2017, the recital Queens: Handel Opera Arias. On stage, her repertoire includes operas by Handel(Rodrigo, Agrippina, Rinaldo), Vivaldi(La Silvia, Montezuma), Monteverdi(L'Orfeo), Purcell(Dido and Aeneas), Cavalli, Jomelli, Vinci and Galuppi(L'Olimpiade).
