Biography
Born in Verdun (Canada) in 1939, Robert Demontigny is a Quebec pop singer. In 1961, he won first prize on Ma Première Chance. The following year, he toured cabarets in the province of Quebec. In 1962, his song " Eso Beso " reached its first number-one in the Quebec charts, where it remained for five weeks. He also hosted and co-hosted television programs, including Rolande Reçoit, with Rolande Desormeaux in 1962, Copain Copain, with Dominique Michel in 1963, and Jeunesse d'Aujourd 'hui in 1965. In 1964, Robert Demontigny placed the song " Un Baiser de toi ", from his album of the same name, at the top of the Quebec radio charts for seven weeks. In 1965, with Denis Pantis, he founded the Télédisc record company. In 1967 and 1968, he hosted Let's Go on CBC television. It won him a trophy at the Gala des artistes in 1968. With Claude Valade, he launched the song " Vin d'été " in 1967, which climbed to the top 10 on Quebec radio. He scored two more number-one hits during the 1970s, with " Si tu m'attends (évidemment) " in 1972, which stayed there for three weeks, and " Je suis un mari fidèle " in 1975, which stayed there for two weeks. In 1977, he left the world of music to work in the business sector.
