Biography

Serge Laprade is a singer, actor and broadcaster born on January 13, 1941, in Montreal, Quebec (Canada). He recorded his first single in 1962, but had to wait until the following year for a hit with the songs " Tout le monde en route " and " Vive le palmarès ", the theme of his Quebec TV show De un à dix. In 1964, he had another hit on record with " Sois heureuse " and won the male discovery of the year award at the Gala des artistes. In 1965, he did a cover of Hervé Villard's song " Capri c'est fini ". During the 1960s and 1970s, he also worked as an announcer and host on radio and television. In 1979, he scored a 4-week number-one hit with the song " L'Amour interdit ". In 1980, a second number-one hit with the song " Prends soin d'elle ". In the 1980s and 1990s, he held a number of TV and radio hosting positions. In addition to a farewell tour to mark his 50th anniversary in 2011, the singer took part in an idol tour with other artists of his generation. On January 17, 2024, Serge Laprade died in La Prairie, at the age of 83.
