Born on February 6, 1943 in Montreal, Canada, and died on February 6, 2016 in his hometown, Gilles Brown was a Quebec pop singer. He began his career as a radio host. In 1962, he formed the duo Les Valentins, along with Pierre Laurendeau, who made a name for themselves with the song " Parce que ". The following year, the duo disbanded and he launched his solo career. In the years that followed, he achieved success with " Ce soir " in 1964, " C'est toi que j'aime " and " Mon Ange " in 1965, and " Agent secret " in 1966. During the 1960s, he wrote several songs for artists including Fernand Gignac, Michèle Richard, Robert Demontigny and groups such as César et les Romains, Les Baronets and Les Classels. After taking a break from performing, he returned in 1972 with two duets with Yves Martin, " Il faut se dire adieu " and " Il ne faut pas pleurer ", which reached the top 10 on Quebec radio. Gilles Brown continued composing songs in the 1970s, including those for Anne Renée and Nicole Martin. In the early 1980s, he produced three albums by Claude Valade.
