Reuben, an English rock band from Camberley, Surrey, formed in 1998 with singer/guitarist Jamie Lenman, bassist Jon Pearce, and drummer Jason Wilson. Initially known as Angel, the group released several demos before changing their name to Reuben in March 2000 following a lineup change that brought in Mark Lawton on drums. Their first release under the new name was the Pilot EP, issued in January 2001. The band's breakthrough came with the release of their debut album, Racecar Is Racecar Backwards (June 2004), which featured the singles "Let's Stop Hanging Out" and "Moving to Blackwater". This album earned them a nomination for the Kerrang! Award for Best British Newcomer. In September 2005, Reuben supported their second album, Very Fast Very Dangerous, with a live set on BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe show. Their third album, In Nothing We Trust (June 2007), received critical acclaim and included collaborations with Frank Turner, Hannah Clark, and Paul Townsend. The band toured extensively, including performances in Europe with Billy Talent in September 2006. Reuben disbanded in June 2008 following a hiatus announcement; releasing their final single "Christmas Is Awesome" (2007)
