Biography
Holy Soldier was a Christian hard rock/glam metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 1985 by bassist Andy Robbins and guitarist Jamie Cramer. They gained local attention before signing to A&M Records in 1989. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1990 under Myrrh Records, produced by David Zaffiro, which received critical acclaim and moderate commercial success. The band won two Dove Awards in 1991 for hard rock song and album of the year categories. Their second album, Last Train, was released in 1992 but did not meet sales expectations. In 1995, they released Promise Man under ForeFront Records, which won them another Dove Award for hard rock song of the year. Despite their success, the band disbanded in 1997 after a short hiatus and the release of a live retrospective album, Encore. The original members' lineup briefly reunited in 2005 for a benefit concert and discussions of a new studio album. After Steven Patrickâs departure, the band recruited Don Russell to handle lead vocals and performed a series of festival appearances in 2006.
