QL, pronounced "kuul," is a Swiss fun-punk band from Biel/Bienne. They gained recognition for their punk reinterpretations of old folk hits and Swiss-German children's songs. Their breakthrough came with Heimatschutz in 2004, which sold over 40,000 copies. The album Luscht, released in 2005, reached number 3 on the Swiss charts. QL's unofficial World Cup song "Hopp Schwiiz" spent nine weeks in the Swiss singles chart, peaking at number 28. Their third album, Schwi!zerchracher (2007), featured a collaboration with Bündner rapper Gimma and debuted at number 3 on the Swiss charts. In 2010, QL released Humba Tätärä, which reached number 5 in Switzerland and featured a collaboration with nine wind players, including Pepe Lienhard. Notable singles include "Margritli" (2008) and "Sonderzug is Radio" (2009). The first three albums achieved gold status in Switzerland.
