Biography

English indie rock band, Prolapse formed in Leicester in 1992. The group consists of vocalists Mick Derrick and Linda Steelyard, guitarists David Jeffreys and Pat Marsden, bassist Mick Harrison, and drummer Tim Pattison. Their sound blended punk rock, krautrock, and shoegazing styles, characterized by the contrasting vocal styles of Steelyard and Derrick. Prolapse released their first EPs, Crate: Songs for Ella and Pull Thru' Barker, on Cherry Red Records in 1993, followed by the single "Doorstop Rhythmic Bloc" and album Pointless Walks to Dismal Places in 1994. The band gained critical acclaim and a cult following through their live performances. In 1995, they released their second album, backsaturday, which featured the single "TCR" and saw them experimenting with repetitive grooves and ambient soundscapes. Their third album, The Italian Flag (1997), included significant radio play for singles like "Killing The Bland" and "Autocade". Prolapse's LP, Ghosts Of Dead Aeroplanes, was released in 1999 before the group disbanded in 2000. In 2015, they reformed to play live dates and release digital re-releases of their back catalogue. Initially active from 1992 to 2000, the band reformed briefly in 2015 and 2022 before officially reuniting in 2024. I Wonder When They're Going To Destroy Your Face was released in 2025.
