Biography

Power Station is a rock duo from Taiwan, made up of Yu Chiu-hsin and Yen Chih-lin. Both members are of the Paiwan tribe of Taiwan's Pingtung County. The duo graduated from Taiwan Adventist College in Nantou County, and decided to take advantage of their musical compatibility by starting a band together. Their first project was Virgin Choir, a band they formed with some friends that disbanded shortly afterwards. Driven by their love of western rock songs, the duo decided to form Power Station in 1997. The release of their debut album Ruthless Love Letter (1997) immediately gained notoriety and popularity within the Chinese rock music scene. The following year the group released “When,” which served as the theme song for the television drama My Fair Princess. In 1999, they performed the song “I Can Endure the Hardship” for the Singaporean series Stepping Out, which went on to be awarded Best Theme Song at the 1999 Star Awards. In addition to their albums such as Man (2002), Moving On (2009) and Light (2013), the group has established a reputation for their performances of opening and ending theme songs for many Singaporean TV series such as Are You My Brother?, Riding the Storm, and Joys of Life.
