Biography

Antonio Vargas CortÃ©s is a Spanish flamenco singer born in 1976 in Seville. Known professionally as Potito, he is the son of the cantaor and guitarist Changuito and the nephew of the dancer Angelita Vargas. He was regarded as a child prodigy and began performing flamenco on tourist boats along the Guadalquivir River at age ten. During his adolescence, he collaborated with musicians such as Paco de LucÃa and Tomatito. Potitoâs recording career began with Andando por los caminos (1990) followed by MacandÃ© (1992). He released the studio recording MÃa pa los restos (1996) and the studio recording El Ãºltimo cantaor (1999). His later work included Barrio Alto (2006) and Mi reencuentro (2018), which was produced by Vicente Amigo. Potito has performed internationally and has collaborated in spectacles with artists including Sara Baras and JoaquÃn CortÃ©s.
