Juan Medina Herranz, known professionally as Juanito Makandé, born on February 20, 1982, in La LÃnea de la Concepción, Cádiz, Spain, is a Spanish singer, percussionist, guitarist, composer, and producer who fuses traditional flamenco with funk or jazz. He began his musical journey inspired by hearing "Como el agua" by Camarón de la Isla, leading him to pick up the guitar and later explore percussion instruments like the cajón. Juanito Makandé's career took off with the release of his debut solo album Sueña in 2006. In 2014, he released Las canciones que escribà mientras volaba, a successful project funded through crowdfunding. This was followed by Muerte a los pájaros negros in 2015 and El Habitante de la Tarde Roja in 2018. Notable singles include "El llanto de las gallinas" and "Vivir Sin Miedo". Makandé has collaborated with numerous artists, including Chico Ocaña and El Canijo de Jerez. In 2020, he released the single "Domingo eterno", inspired by the lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain, followed by the album La RaÃz Del Viento (2021) and Folklore Sintetico (2022).
