Postgirobygget is a Norwegian pop rock band formed in 1994 in Trondheim. Composed of university mates Arne Hurlen (vocals), Nicolai Hauan (bass), Nils Petter Time (guitar), Daniel Hovik (keyboards), and Per Sarin Madsen (drums), the group started out as a cover band before recording and self-releasing a couple of demo CDs in 1995. Word quickly spread and one of those demos got to the label Norske Gram, who offered them a record deal. Produced by Ulf Risnes (of Tre SmÃ¥ Kinesere fame), Melis (1996), the bandâs proper studio debut, sold more than 162,000 copies and stayed on the Norwegian charts for 70 consecutive weeks. Hot on the heels of Melisâ success, the group released Essensuell (1997) and Supertanker (1999), both of which were recorded in their own studio and adopted a harder sound than their predecessor. At the turn of the century, Postgirobygget came back with 4-4-2 (2001), which stayed 5 weeks on Norwayâs VG List, peaking at number 19. Following the release of the compilation Best av alt (2003), the group broke a four-year silence with Tidløs (2007). The title track became an instant hit, topping the Norwegian charts and earning them a nomination for the Spellemannprisen Awards that same year. Ãyeblikk (2009) kept the hits coming, with âLuftmadrassâ reaching number 6 on the VG List and charting for a total of nine weeks. After the critical and commercial failure that was Summer i Norge (2013), the band followed up with Uteliv (2019), the first live album in their decades-spanning career.
