Biography

One of Norway's most popular bands, DumDum Boys have been performing under this name since 1985. Formed as Wannskrækk in 1979, the band featuring singer Prepple Houmb, guitarist Kjartan Kristiansen and drummer Sola Jansen took their name from an Iggy Pop song and, after a punk debut, released their debut album Blodig Alvor Na Na Na Na Na in 1988. It was an immediate success, reaching number 14 in the sales charts and winning a Spellemann Award, before going on to win a second prize and a gold disc with Splitter Pine (1989), which reached number 3. DumDum Boys' popularity is further consolidated and amplified by the #1 albums Pstereo (1990), Transit (1992), Sus (1996), Gravitasjon (2006), Tidsmaskin (2009), Ti liv (2012) and Amer og bein (2018). Throughout its four decades of activity, the band has undergone few changes, with bassist Persi Iveland replaced in 1993 by Aslak Doerum and keyboardist Atle Karlsen passing through from 1989 to 2007.
