Biography

Babel Fish was a pop rock band from Oslo, Norway, formed in the late 1980s by Tarjei van Ravens, Halvor Holter, and Odd Jensen. Initially working as studio musicians, they released their first single, "Light of Day" (1996), under the name Daily Planet. After changing their name to Babel Fish, inspired by Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, they signed with Atlantic Records and released their debut album, Babel Fish (1998). The album featured the hit single "Mania", which gained significant traction across Europe. In 2002, they returned to Norway under another Warner subsidiary and released the album Coming Up For Air. After a decade-long hiatus, Babel Fish reunited in 2011 to participate in Melodi Grand Prix 2011 with the song "Depend on Me", winning the second Semi-Final. Other albums included Come Closer - The Best of Babel Fish (2011). Singles included "Turning the Blind Eye", "Out of the Blue", "Some Day Soon", "Blah Blah Blah", "Killing Time", "Coming up for Air", and "Come Closer".
