Noriko Sekiguchi, born in Yokohama, Japan, is a singer, songwriter, composer, producer, and DJ known for her solo music project POiSON GiRL FRiEND. In the early 1990s, Sekiguchi began her career as a Club DJ in Tokyo and formed The Poison Girl Friends with friends in 1990. By late 1991, she started releasing music under the name POiSON GiRL FRiEND, self-producing her first mini-album POiSON GiRL FRiENDS on her independent label Psycho Planet Communications. In 1992, her major-label debut album Melting Moment, released on Victor Entertainment, featured the signature piece "Hardly Ever Smile (Without You)". Throughout the 1990s, POiSON GiRL FRiEND released several albums, including Shyness (1993) and Love Me (1994), collaborating with notable figures like Momus and Simon Fisher Turner. In 2014, she released her first album in 20 years, rondoElectro, followed by das Gift in 2018 and exQuisxx in 2023.
