Primitive Race is an American industrial rock and alternative rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 2013. Founded by Chris Kniker, the band began as a collaborative studio ensemble featuring a rotating lineup including Graham Crabb, Erie Loch, and Mark Thwaite. Their debut release, the EP Long in the Tooth, was issued on 5 June 2015. The self-titled debut studio album, Primitive Race, followed on 7 August 2015 through Metropolis Records, featuring contributions from Tommy Victor and Dave Ogilvie. In September 2015, the band released the digital remix EP Follow the Leader. Their second studio album, Soul Pretender, was issued on 3 November 2017, featuring a more organic sound with the vocalist Chuck Mosley and the drummer Dale Crover. Following Mosley's death in late 2017, the band released the remix album Cranial Matter in August 2019.
