Biography
Peter Epstein is an American jazz saxophonist born in the United States in 1967. Epstein studied at the California Institute of the Arts under Charlie Haden, James Newton, and John Carter. After graduating in 1992, they appeared on over 50 recordings and toured with artists such as Ralph Alessi, Michael Cain, and Jerry Granelli. Their recordings include Staring at the Sun (1997), The Invisible (1999), and Old School (2001). Epstein was a founding member of the School for Improvisational Music in New York City. Their discography includes the albums The Dark (2010), Polarities (2014), and Two Legs Bad (2023). Epstein served as the director of Jazz & Improvisational Music at the University of Nevada, Reno.
