Biography

Peter Alsop (born September 18, 1946, in Connecticut) is an American musician known for his children’s music and satirical adult songs. Raised in an alcoholic family, he earned a BA in Religion from Trinity College in 1968, followed by graduate work and a PhD in educational psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University and Columbia Pacific University. His music career began in 1975, producing children’s, educational, and humorous material. Notable albums include Wha’d’ya Wanna Do!? (1983), Stayin’ Over (1987), and In the Hospital (1989, with Bill Harley). In 2010, he received a Parents’ Choice Award for his album Grow It at Home. His work often addresses themes of recovery, addiction, loss, and sexuality.
