Biography

Trout Fishing in America is an American musical duo from Houston, Texas, formed by Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet. Both musicians were previously part of the folk rock band St. Elmo's Fire. They took their name from Richard Brautigan’s novel Trout Fishing in America. After St. Elmo's Fire disbanded in 1979, they began performing as Trout Fishing in America, releasing the debut album You Bore Me to Death! (1979) through their own label, Trout Records. The duo released numerous albums, including Big Trouble (1989), which featured the song "When I Was a Dinosaur", and Over the Limit (1992), which was named Independent Pop Album of the Year by the National Association of Record Distributors. They also held songwriting workshops with children. Four of their albums were nominated for Grammy Awards, including inFINity (2001), Merry Fishes to All (2004), My Best Day (2006), and Big Round World (2008).
