Biography

Composed of DJs and producers Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles, Peking Duk were an Australian electronic music duo formed in Canberra in 2010. They rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing a bootleg remix of Passion Pit’s “Take a Walk.” In 2014, they broke into the Australian Top 10 with the singles “High,” featuring Nicole Millar, and “Take Me Over,” with SAFIA. Both tracks obtained platinum certification and were included on their 2015 debut EP Songs to Sweat To. That same year, they made their Coachella debut and scored another platinum single with “Say My Name.” In the following years, they further raised their profile with the Elliphant collaboration “Stranger” (2016), which reached Number 5 in Australia, and teamed up with AlunaGeorge on the Top 40 single “Fake Magic” (2017). Their second EP, Reprisal, arrived in 2018 and was soon certified triple-platinum, paving the way for collaborations with Jack River (“Sugar,” 2019) and The Wombats (“Nothing to Love About Love,” 2020). In 2021, Peking Duk returned with the Sarah Aarons-assisted “Chemicals,” a high-energy electro-pop track that was subsequently reworked by several producers. They collaborated with Slayyyter on “Honest” and British indie band Circa Waves on “Spend It” in 2022, before revisiting Savage Garden’s “I Want You” with original singer Darren Hayes in 2023. That year, they also joined Julia Stone for a version of Crowded House’s “Fall at Your Feet” for triple j’s Like a Version, which reached Number 64 in the 2023 Hottest 100. The FEYI collaboration “Stop the Music” followed in 2024, while 2025 brought “Around U,” a Coke Studio collaboration with Drax Project and Kita Alexander combining electronic, pop and pop-jazz elements. In March 2026, Peking Duk announced their long-awaited first studio album, Paradise, beginning its rollout with “Thrills,” featuring Rico Nasty. Further collaborations followed with Phantogram on “Forever,” Kah-Lo on “Do Your Best” and Matt Corby on “Let Go,” the latter embracing a slower, retro-leaning electronic sound. Released on August 14, 2026, Paradise contained 14 tracks and expanded the duo’s dance-oriented style through influences including UK garage, hip-hop and classic electronic music. Peking Duk described the record as the beginning of a new creative chapter after years of concentrating primarily on individual singles.
