Biography

Born on November 5, 1991, in Sydney, Australia, Harley Edward Streten, professionally known as Flume, is an Australian musician, DJ and music producer recognized as a trailblazer in the future bass genre. Flume's eponymous debut studio album, released in 2012, garnered positive reviews, securing the top position on the ARIA Albums Chart and achieving double-platinum status. It made waves globally, reaching charts in Belgium, The Netherlands, and New Zealand. The album's single "Holdin On" also claimed the Number 1 spot, a feat he repeated in 2013 with Chet Faker collaboration “Drop the Game”, which not only dominated the charts but also attained Platinum certification. Gaining further popularity for his remixes of tracks by artists such as Lorde, Sam Smith, Arcade Fire, Hermitude, and Disclosure, he released his second studio album, Skin, in 2016, which topped the ARIA Albums Chart once again and made its mark globally, including the UK and the US where it reached number 8 on the US Billboard 200 Charts, earning him the coveted Best Dance/Electronic Album award at the 2017 Grammy Awards. The lead single, "Never Be Like You," featuring Kai, achieved 7x Platinum status in Australia and garnered considerable international acclaim on worldwide charts. Following the success of Skin, Flume unveiled the B-side EP Skin Companion EP 1 in November 2016 and Skin Companion EP 2 in February 2017. In 2019, he released the mixtape Hi This Is Flume, to critical acclaim, followed by third studio album, Palaces, released in May 2022, which landed at number 3 on the ARIA charts. The album featured hit singles like "Hollow" featuring Emma Louise and "Highest Building" featuring Oklou, which climbed to number 7 in New Zealand. In February 2023, Flume dropped his second mixtape, Things Don’t Always Go the Way You Plan, followed by the release of the third mixtape, Arrived Anxious, Left Bored, in May 2023. In January 2024, Flume's hit single "Never Be Like You" experienced a resurgence in popularity, claiming the 17th spot on the streaming charts. The more experimental release, the EP We Live in a Society with JPEGMAFIA, followed in May 2025, featuring Ravyn Lenae on "Is It Real", ranked number 17 in the Dance & Electronic Songs chart.
