Margaret "Peggy" Stern, born September 22, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American jazz pianist and synthesizer player. She studied piano at the Eastman School of Music, earning her bachelor's degree in 1968, followed by studies at the New England Conservatory of Music from 1968 to 1970. In the 1980s, Stern performed as a jazz musician in an octet with Richie Cole and Julian Priester. During the 1990s, she collaborated with Lee Konitz and Vic Juris, releasing albums such as Lunasea (1992) and The Jobim Collection (1993). Stern taught at the Cornish Institute in Seattle from 1981 to 1989. In 2004, she founded the Wall Street Jazz Festival in Kingston, New York. Her discography includes City Hawk (1985) and Z Octet (2015).
