Biography

Paolo Birro, born in 1962 in Noventa Vicentina, Italy, is a musician, pianist, and composer known for his contributions to jazz. He initially received classical piano training at the Vicenza Conservatory before transitioning to jazz. In 1992, Birro won first prize at the Barga International Competition with his trio featuring Sandro Gibellini and Mauro Negri. His debut album, Fair Play (1995), earned critical acclaim from Musica Jazz. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable musicians such as Lee Konitz, Buddy DeFranco, Art Farmer, and Aldo Romano. He has released several albums, including Capo D’Astro (1998), Live at Siena Jazz (2002) with the trio, and Sbàndio (2008). Birro has contributed to over 50 albums by other artists and was a member of the Lydian Sound Orchestra under Riccardo Brazzale.
