Biography

Paco Ortega e Isabel Montero was a Spanish flamenco pop band formed in the early 1980s. Paco Ortega had previously released a debut album in 1974, while Isabel Montero performed locally without prior studio experience. Their debut single, “Juan Heredia”, was released in 1987, followed by their breakthrough track, “Entre la hiedra”. This song appeared on their eponymous debut album, Paco Ortega & Isabel Montero, which became one of the highest-selling records in Spain that year. In 1990, the group participated in the Festival de la OTI, finishing in number 3 with the song “Duérmete mi amor”. This success prompted the release of their second album, Contracorriente, featuring “Al Amanecer”. The band’s final studio effort, Sígueme, was issued in 1992. The group became inactive in 1993, with both Ortega and Montero subsequently pursuing solo careers.
