Biography

Owen Paul McGee, known professionally as Owen Paul, was born on May 1, 1962, in Glasgow, Scotland. As a youngster, he decided to pursue a career in music after hearing the Sex Pistols and played with Glasgow band Venigmas in the early 1980s. His breakthrough came in 1986 with the release of his hit single "My Favourite Waste of Time", which reached Number 3 on the UK charts. He had a falling-out with his record label after releasing the album As It Is (1986) and left the music industry for 15 years. In 2002, he returned to the music scene with the album About Time and went on to tour as a solo artist. Notable collaborations include working with Mike + The Mechanics and Ex-Simple Minds. He released "The One" in January 2014, his first official single in the UK since 1987, followed by the album About Time II. In 2023, he released "Overblown Superstar", an Americana/country single that saw a return to his Celtic/folk roots.
