Biography
Ovidi Montllor i Mengual was a Valencian singer-songwriter and actor. Montllor began an artistic journey as an actor in 1962 before achieving a breakthrough in music at the second Festival de la Canción Universitaria in 1968, where he won first prize. This success led to the debut EP âLa fera ferotgeâ (1968) and collaborations with figures including Quico Pi de la Serra, Raimon, and guitarist Toti Soler. Montllor was a prominent member of the Nova Cançó movement. Discography milestones include the albums Un entre tants... (1972), Crònica d'un temps (1973), and A Alcoi (1974). Notable songs include âLa samarretaâ and âHomenatge a Teresaâ. As an actor, Montllor appeared in approximately 50 films, including the José Luis Borau drama Furtivos (1975). In 1993, Montllor began recording the album Verà Good, but the project was interrupted by illness. Montllor died in 1995.
