The Ossipov State Russian Folk Orchestra, founded in 1919 by balalaika player B. C. Troyanovski, is an ensemble from the Russian Federation specializing in folk music. The orchestra was initially known for its traditional Russian instruments and classical-style presentations of ethnic Russian music. In 1940, it was renamed after Nikolai Petrovich Osipov, who led the group until his death in 1945. His brother Dmitri Osipov took over until his own passing in 1954. Vladimir Ponkin served as leader from 2005 to 2009, followed by Vladimir Andropov, who has been at the helm since 2009. The orchestra's discography includes notable albums such as Balalaika Favorites (1962) and Russian Folk Instruments (1973). Throughout its history, the ensemble has featured soloists like Nina Vysotina, Anatoli Safiullin, Boris Nikolaev, and Vyacheslav Kobzev.
