Biography

Mikail Aslan, born in 1972 in Kardelen, Hozat, Tunceli, Turkey, is a Zaza singer and musician. At age 10, he moved with his family to Kayseri. After completing high school, Aslan began studying mathematics but left after two years due to political reasons, deciding to pursue music professionally. He started playing the saz and worked with prominent Turkish-Kurdish musicians, forming the group Grup Munzur. In 1994, Aslan relocated to Germany due to political pressures. There, he continued his musical activities with the group Tohum, contributing three songs to their project Ogul. In 1999, he released his solo album Agêrayis in Zazaisch. He formed the Mikail Aslan Ensemble in 2000, which blended traditional and jazz elements. Notable releases include "De Bê Wayiro" (2003) with Ahmet Aslan, Kilitê Kou (2003), Mîraz (2005), and Zernkut (2008). Aslan also composed music for documentaries on Anatolia.
