Biography

The Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group, an American experimental rock band, was formed in 2005 as a side project of Omar Rodríguez-López. Initially known as the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Quintet, the group featured members Juan Alderete, Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez, Adrián Terrazas-González, and Money Mark. Their debut release, Please Heat This Eventually, was a collaborative EP with Damo Suzuki, released in December 2006. The quintet evolved into the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group by 2006, releasing albums such as Los sueños de un hígado (2009) and Dōitashimashite (2010). Notable collaborations included performances with Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Thomas Pridgen. The group's lineup frequently changed, with key members like Deantoni Parks joining in 2010. After the dissolution of The Mars Volta in 2012, Rodríguez-López focused on collaborative efforts with other bands such as At the Drive-In, Bosnian Rainbows, Antemasque, and Crystal Fairy.
