Biography
Anthony John Burger was an American pianist and singer born on June 5, 1961, in Cleveland, Tennessee. He studied at the Cadek Conservatory from age five. Burger released his first recording, Anthony Burger at the Lowrey Organ, in 1975. He joined the ensemble The Celestials for the 1976 recording Ole Fashion Gospel. Between 1978 and 1993, he was a member of the Kingsmen Quartet and received the Favorite Musician award at the Singing News Fan Awards for ten consecutive years. Burger joined the Gaither Homecoming Tour in 1994 and formed the ensemble The Trio in 1998. In 2005, he became the first Southern Gospel pianist added to the Steinway & Sons roster of endorsing artists. Burger died from a heart attack on February 22, 2006, while performing on a cruise ship. The recording Classic Gospel appeared posthumously in 2020.
