Biography

Founded in 2001, Oddjob is a Swedish jazz and funk quintet comprised of Daniel Karlsson (piano), Peter Forss (bass), Goran Kajfeš (trumpet), Lars Skoglund (drums), and Per ‘Ruskträsk’ Johansson (saxophone). Their unique sound blends several genres – rock, traditional jazz, funk, and soul – and a focus on melodies. The seasoned musicians originally came together when each member was chosen to back soul singer Eric Gadd on tour. After playing together, they decided to form Oddjob. They released their self-titled debut album in 2002. The album was a critical and commercial success, earning them a Swedish Grammy Award for Best Jazz Album. They followed that with Koyo (2004), Luma (2006), Sumo (2008), and Clint (2010). Their 2012 album Jazzoo won a Swedish Grammy Award for Best Children’s Album as well as the Grand Prix de L'Académie Charles Cros, a prestigious award in France. Further studio albums include Kong (2019), Folk (2015), and Plays Weather Report (2016), a tribute to one of their biggest influences.
